From 17-21 July 2018 we attended Special Olympics 50 years anniversary on behalf of Special Olympics Uganda, the event was hosted in Chicago the birth place of Special Olympics Movement , Events include inaugural Special Olympics Unified Cup presented by TOYOTA, the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Eternal Flame of Hope Ceremony, Global Day of Inclusion and a star-studded Concert headlined by Chance the Rapper also featuring Usher, Jason Mraz ,Didier Drogba and many more that advocates for social inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities across the world.
Special Olympics Unified Cup presented by TOYOTA at CIBC Fire Pitch and TOYOTA Park this was An inaugural soccer invitational tournament featuring 24 global Unified teams (16 male and eight female teams), each including players with and without intellectual disabilities playing alongside each other.
Second activity on agenda was the Commemorative Law Enforcement Torch run a ceremonial Law Enforcement Torch Run featured hundreds of law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes from around Chicago and the world. This four-mile run took take place along Chicago’s lakefront and conclude with the lighting of the Eternal Flame of Hope outside of Soldier Field. I participated in the Global Day of Inclusion at Soldier Field this was a massive celebration and family-friendly festival that encouraged all people to make their cities more inclusive. The events included sports activities, games, exhibits, delicious food and live entertainment just to make sure that athletes have a feel of inclusion.
